Benefits of Installing Electric Car Chargers at Your Business
Whether you are looking to install just a few EV charging stations or a large-scale setup, there are several advantages to adding EV charging capabilities to your business.
- Attract more customers. EV drivers can locate available charging stations on apps or by searching online. They will often choose where they shop, eat, or stay based on the availability of charging services.
- Enhance customer experience. Word-of-mouth is powerful for a business’s reputation, and customers who have a great experience often become repeat customers who refer others to your business.
- Increase dwell time. Electric vehicles can take several hours to charge, meaning EV drivers have more time to take advantage of everything your business offers.
- Improve company morale. Boost employee retention (and save on new employee training costs) by offering EV charging as a perk of employment.
- Support a greener future. Installing commercial EV charging stations showcases your company’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
- Boost revenue. Many businesses charge a fee for each charging session, which the driver conveniently pays for at the station. Also, your company may qualify for the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit.
Companies with commercial EV charging stations also monetize this service in other ways. Some add this service to or create membership programs, while others bundle this service with other perks. Some companies also partner with local businesses to advertise on or around the charging stations.
Choosing the Right EV Charger for Your Business Needs
There are several factors to consider when choosing the EV charger installation that will meet the needs of your business.
- Number of chargers: Two or three chargers might make the most sense for smaller businesses with limited space. If you expect a large number of customers or employees to be charging their vehicles at the same time, it would be better to invest in more charging stations.
- Charging speed: As we explain below, there are three different EV charging levels to choose from. While the fastest level costs more, it provides a more powerful (and, therefore, much shorter) charging session for each vehicle.
- Compatibility: Tesla model EVs require a different charging connector than most other electric vehicles. To ensure universal compatibility, choose EV chargers that come with interchangeable connectors.
- User experience: The chargers you select should be easy for customers to use with features like mobile payment and status updates for charging sessions. They should also be easy for you to maintain, preferably with network connectivity for remote monitoring.
- Location: Consider parking configuration and access to buildings or amenities when deciding where to install your EV charging stations. Also, consider where you may have room to grow as EV adoption becomes more widespread.
Be Sure to Consider the 3 Levels of EV Charging
- Level 1 EV chargers - Most EVs come with their own Level 1 charger that plugs into a standard 120-volt outlet. They are the least expensive option, but they are also less efficient. This level is ideal for overnight charging because it can take several hours to fully charge an electric vehicle battery.
- Level 2 EV chargers - Level 2 chargers are more expensive than Level 1 chargers. However, they are much more efficient and more common in public or commercial EV charging stations. These chargers require a 240-volt outlet (like the one your clothing dryer uses) and can reduce the charging time to a few hours.
- Level 3 EV chargers - Level 3 chargers have the highest price point, but they are also the most powerful and efficient. They are powered by direct current and are only available commercially. This level is highly attractive to customers as they can be back on the road within an hour or less.

Requirements to Install Commercial Charging Stations
To keep your customers and property safe, all EV chargers must have GFCI protection. GFCI quickly switches off the electrical current in case of an overload to prevent damage to people and property.
Some EV chargers have built-in GFCI protection, but others will require the installation of a GFCI breaker.
An electrical permit is also required for commercial EV charger installation in the state of Florida.
The Taddeo Way: The Standard Process We Will Follow to Install a Commercial EV Charging Station in Your Company
We pride ourselves on being upfront about what to expect when working with our team. Every business is different and will have its unique requirements. Generally, however, these are the steps we follow to install your EV charging stations.
Step 1: Get in Touch with the Taddeo Electric Team
Fill out the form or give us a call to schedule your free consultation for a commercial EV charger installation. We will arrange a time for one of our experienced electricians to view your property.
Step 2: On-Site Inspection & Assessment
A qualified Taddeo representative will talk to you about your business goals and objectives and personally inspect your property and electrical system to determine what is needed for your specific charging station setup.
Step 3: Infrastructure Requirements and Quote
After the site inspection, our representative will outline the infrastructure requirements needed to install commercial EV charging station(s) on your property. They will also provide a quote so you know what costs to expect upfront.
Step 4: Pulling the Permit & Scheduling the Installation
Once you have approved the quote, we will work on pulling the necessary permit for the installation. This can take up to 30 days (depending on the county review process), but as soon as we receive the permit, we will contact you to schedule the installation date. The EV charging equipment must be on site for us to begin work, so be sure to coordinate the installation date with the arrival of your EV chargers.
Step 5: Installing Your EV Charging Station
Our team will install your commercial EV charging stations to your specifications, adhering to all safety codes and regulations.
Step 6: Quality Assurance and After-Sales Support
We offer a one-year warranty on all our work to ensure that your new charger receives the proper power to function safely.
Cost of Installing an Electric Car Charging Station in Florida
The total cost of a commercial EV charging station installation will depend on many factors, including…
- The level and quantity of chargers you select
- Any necessary upgrades to your electrical system
- Other factors unique to your property and location
You can offset these costs by applying for the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit and monetizing this service through things like charging fees, membership programs, and advertising partnerships.
